Alfred Rossum, MD, MMS, is a leading cardiologist at Phoenix Heart, with five locations in Arizona including Glendale, Goodyear, Anthem, Buckeye, and Black Canyon City. Dr. Rossum’s wealth of experience includes time as an Air Force flight surgeon and studying space medicine at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

After earning a master’s degree in medical science at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Dr. Rossum moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to study medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After graduating, he stayed at the university to complete a transitional internship.

Dr. Rossum then trained at some of the top programs throughout the Southwest. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, as well as a residency in cardiology at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Dr. Rossum then studied space medicine in a fellowship at the Johnson Space Center, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. In addition to this extremely specialized training, he holds membership in a number of medical societies, including the American Medical Association, the Aerospace Medical Association, the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, the American Society of Internal Medicine, and the Society of the United States Air Force Flight Surgeons. His skills and experience have also earned him the position of medical director at the Phoenix Heart Vein Center.
