About Vein Disease
Millions of Americans suffer from vein disease. It is estimated that in the United States, 72 percent of women and 42 percent of men will experience varicose veins by the time they are in their 60’s. Prevalence of vein disease is highly correlated to age and gender.
Vein problems typically develop slowly over the years, often without even being noticed. In fact, many patients build a tolerance for the discomfort that vein problems can cause and are not even aware of how much better they can feel until after they’ve been treated. While many patients come to the Vein Center for cosmetic reasons, venous disease has the potential for developing into a serious medical issue.
If you have symptoms suggestive of venous disease, we recommend a consultation with our Vein Center. The consultation will include a review of your medical history and physical exam. When appropriate, the physician may then suggest a venous mapping of your lower extremities (legs) so they can build a personalized treatment plan.
