Rahul Malhotra, MD, FACC, FSCAI
Dr. Rahul Malhotra, grew up in Scarsdale, New York and graduated in 1979 from Fordham University New York. In 1984 he received his MEdical Degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, WI. Dr. Malhotra completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency in 1987 at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. His cardiology Fellowship was at Brown University, Rhode Island where from 1987 - 1989 he received training in Interventional/Noninvasive Cardiology, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and stenting. He was Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Brown University and was Chief of Cardiology at Landmark Medical Center, Rhode Island.
Dr. Malhotra is Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He received specialized training in Interventional Cardiology at Brown University, pacemakers at Tufts University and isotopes at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Malhotra is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (F.A.C.C.) as well as a Fellow of the Society of Coronary and Angiography and Intervention (F.S.C.A.I.).
Dr. Malhotra continues to publish abstracts and articles in peer reviewed journals in addition to lecturing on various cardiovascular topics in the region as well as internationally. He received the Continuing Medical Education (C.M.E.) Special Award 1997-98: Eminent Medical Men for Distinguished Achievement of Highest Order. Dr. Malhotra's research presentations include "Expanding PTCA with Drug Eluding Stents, Initial Experience" July 2002 at the Interventional Vascular Therapies Forum in Beijing, China. He is published in the American Journal of Cardiology and the Indian Heart Journal. He has received research grants from the American Heart Association. Dr. Malhotra also specializes in Carotid stent procedures.
Dr. Malhotra started his Cardiology practice with Cardiology Associates in Providence, Rhode Island in 1989. Prior to moving to Lima, Ohio, he took a sabbatical in New Delhi, as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at MHI Medical Center. Upon his return, Dr. Malhotra was Vice President of the Heart Institute of Northwest Ohio in Lima until joining our practice in February 2007.
Dr. Malhotra and his wife, Yogiata have two children, Devika and Raghav. He enjoys golf, tennis and photography in his free time.
